Strategy for the future

For more sustainable tire production

Linglong is committed to the long-term goal of producing 100 percent sustainable tires. All Linglong tires are high-tech products made from numerous components. To manufacture these components, Linglong uses a wide variety of materials, such as natural rubber, synthetic rubber, metals, textiles, fillers like carbon black and silica, plasticizers, and elements such as sulfur for vulcanization.

Responsible sourcing and environmental protection

In doing so, Linglong aims to optimize all tire components with a view toward even greater sustainability. Furthermore, in all development processes, Linglong pursues the goal of minimizing material usage for tire production while simultaneously maximizing performance and efficiency. Above this is the overarching strategy of protecting the environment as best as possible and ensuring an optimal environmental footprint for the tire. An important prerequisite for this is the responsible handling of natural rubber, the main component of tire production, during the manufacturing process.

To ensure the sustainable development of this natural resource, Linglong has analyzed the ecological and social problems that arise in areas where natural rubber is produced and processed: deforestation, damage to ecosystems, and violations of the rights of local populations. To solve these problems and source natural rubber in a responsible manner, Linglong has developed a sustainable natural rubber policy, which is being implemented in collaboration with the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR).

Furthermore, Linglong is implementing additional projects worldwide to regenerate plastics, recycle polystyrene, and recover carbon black from end-of-life tires. Innovative manufacturing processes, optimized mileage for all Linglong tires, and the continuous improvement of rolling resistance all contribute significantly to lowering CO2 emissions. Every day, more than 1,500 engineers, researchers, chemists, and developers at Linglong worldwide are dedicated to realizing the long-term goal of 100 percent sustainable tire production.

Vision 2050

Climate Neutrality and Global Industrial Transformation

At the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, held from November 10 to 21, 2025, in Belém, the capital of the Brazilian state of Pará, China presented itself with its own pavilion, showcasing its achievements and goals regarding the global climate to the international community. Representing China's industrial transformation, Wang Feng, President and CEO of Linglong Tire, delivered a keynote speech in which he reported on the ecological developments and goals of Linglong Tire: Linglong is committed to significantly reducing CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050—a decade ahead of the schedule set for Chinese companies in the Paris Agreement—thereby internally pursuing the same goal as the European Union.

Our goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 2035 by:– 52.07%

Linglong is already reducing carbon emissions today through efficient energy use, sustainable tire development, and intelligent supply chain management. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 52.07% by 2035 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. In doing so, the company is focusing on five core elements: new materials, advanced technologies, modern processes, smart machinery, and sustainable, environmentally friendly energy.

Our Promise with the Dual-Carbon Roadmap

Linglong CEO Wang Feng emphasized that the Dual-Carbon Roadmap is not just a commitment to environmental protection, but also revolutionizes the entire production process. The company will do everything in its power to achieve its set environmental goals and offer consumers worldwide environmentally friendly, sustainable, and high-quality mobility solutions, in order to leave a clean and beautiful planet for future generations.

Circular Economy and New Materials

Last year, Linglong presented a concept tire made of 79% sustainable materials. By 2028, Linglong aims to increase the share of sustainable materials in every tire to 85%, and by 2040, all tires are to be made of 100% sustainable materials. The use of bio-based feedstocks such as biotechnological (itaconate) rubber, rice husk ash, or corn-based silica serves to replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials, thereby reducing carbon emissions by up to 35%. Linglong was the first Chinese tire manufacturer to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) and is working with other members to improve sustainability in the natural rubber sector globally. Linglong supports FSC-certified natural rubber projects to help secure the livelihoods of rubber farmers, contribute to forest conservation, and protect the rights of workers, indigenous peoples, and local communities. In the area of resource recycling, Linglong promotes the use of liquid reclaimed rubber and pyrolysis carbon black to effectively utilize end-of-life tires and ensure a closed-loop resource cycle.

The Zrenjanin Plant

At Linglong’s latest state-of-the-art tire plant in Zrenjanin, Serbia, an artificial lake was created to meet the factory's daily water needs. It serves as a rainwater collector while simultaneously creating a new habitat for birds such as the goldfinch. Cutting-edge wastewater treatment facilities were also installed to prevent pollution and negative environmental impacts. Linglong also places great importance on biodiversity around the Serbian plant. Biodiversity is perhaps our planet's most important asset; it encompasses the range of ecosystems and habitats, the variety of animal and plant species, and the genetic diversity within different species. Linglong continuously analyzes and monitors this, including birds, bats, insects, as well as flowers and plants. Supported by the Serbian government, this project makes it possible to react quickly to potential changes in biodiversity and immediately initiate appropriate measures or intervene preventively.

CSR Projects in Europe

Linglong Tire also supports various CSR projects, such as the national CSR campaign in Serbia, "Bottle Caps for People with Disabilities." Linglong employees collect plastic bottle caps—which often contain more plastic than the bottles themselves—and donate them to the organization, which sells them and uses the proceeds to purchase wheelchairs and assistive devices for people with disabilities.
