Hanover, May 5, 2026 – From April 27 to 30, 2026, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)—a CEO-led organization dedicated exclusively to business and sustainable development—was held in Montreux, Switzerland. The WBCSD pursues a sustainability vision that aligns in many respects with Linglong Tire’s sustainability strategy: Linglong is committed to significantly reducing CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050—a decade ahead of the schedule set for Chinese companies in the Paris Agreement—thereby aligning its internal goals with those of the WBCSD and the European Union.
Linglong is already reducing carbon emissions today through efficient energy use, sustainable tire development, and intelligent supply chain management. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions by more than 50% by 2035 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. The company is focusing on five core elements: new materials, advanced technologies, modern processes, smart machinery, and sustainable, eco-friendly energy. For example, the new tire factory currently under construction in Brazil will feature a 35-megawatt solar power plant.
At the WBCSD, Lingkun "Andy" Zhou, CEO of Linglong Tire, presented a concept tire made of 85% sustainable materials; by 2040, all Linglong tires are to be made of 100% sustainable materials. The use of bio-based feedstocks such as biotechnological (itaconate) rubber, rice husk ash, or corn-based silica serves to replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials, thereby reducing carbon emissions by up to 35%. Linglong was the first Chinese tire manufacturer to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) and is working with other members to improve global sustainability in the natural rubber sector. Linglong supports FSC-certified natural rubber projects to improve the livelihoods of rubber farmers, help preserve forests, and protect the rights of workers, indigenous peoples, and local communities. In the area of resource recycling, Linglong promotes the use of liquid reclaimed rubber and pyrolysis carbon black to effectively utilize end-of-life tires and ensure a closed-loop resource cycle.
In his speech, Zhou emphasized that the dual-carbon roadmap is not just a commitment to environmental protection, but also revolutionizes the entire production process. The company will do everything in its power to achieve its environmental goals and offer consumers worldwide eco-friendly, sustainable, and high-quality mobility solutions to ensure a clean and livable planet for future generations.
